Closes #ISSUE
Improves the efficiency of our interactions with the Zed language
server. Previously, on startup and after every workspace configuration
changed notification, we would send >1MB of JSON Schemas to the JSON
LSP. The only reason this had to happen was due to the case where an
extension was installed that would result in a change to the JSON schema
for settings (i.e. added language, theme, etc).
This PR changes the behavior to use the URI LSP extensions of
`vscode-json-language-server` in order to send the server URI's that it
can then use to fetch the schemas as needed (i.e. the settings schema is
only generated and sent when `settings.json` is opened. This brings the
JSON we send to on startup and after every workspace configuration
changed notification down to a couple of KB.
Additionally, using another LSP extension request we can notify the
server when a schema has changed using the URI as a key, so we no longer
have to send a workspace configuration changed notification, and the
schema contents will only be re-requested and regenerated if the schema
is in use.
Release Notes:
- Improved the efficiency of communication with the builtin JSON LSP.
JSON Schemas are no longer sent to the JSON language server in their
full form. If you wish to view a builtin JSON schema in the language
server info tab of the language server logs (`dev: open language server
logs`), you must now use the `editor: open url` action with your cursor
over the URL that is sent to the server.
- Made it so that Zed urls (`zed://...`) are resolved locally when
opened within the editor instead of being resolved through the OS. Users
who could not previously open `zed://*` URLs in the editor can now do so
by pasting the link into a buffer and using the `editor: open url`
action (please open an issue if this is the case for you!).

Closes#18581
Now characters for completing query and word characters, which are
responsible for selecting words by double clicking or navigating, are
different. This fixes a bunch of things:
For settings.json, this improves completions to treat the whole string
as a completion query, instead of just the last word. We now added
"space" as a completion query character without it being a word
character.
For keymap.json, this improves selecting part of an action as the ":"
character is only a completion character and not a word character. So,
completions would still trigger on ":" and query capture will treat ":"
as a word, but for actions like selections and navigation, ":" will be
treated as punctuation.
Before:
Unnecessary related suggestions as query is only the last word which is
"d".

Double clicking `ToggleFold` selects the whole action:

/>
After:
Now query is "one d" and it shows only matched ones.

Double clicking `ToggleFold` only selects part of the action, which is
more refined behavior.

Release Notes:
- Improved autocomplete suggestions in `settings.json`, now whole string
is queried instead of just last word of string, which filters out lot of
false positives.
- Improved selection of action in `keymap.json`, where now you can
double click to only select certain part of action, instead of selecting
whole action.

Partially addresses #25698
Part of why autocomplete suggestions for `keymap.json` aren't great is
because `:` is (correctly) considered a punctuation character, rather
than a word character, in JSON. But since `::` is part of the name of
zed commands, it means that the autocomplete context window loses
context after the user types colon:
Suggestion here is to use overrides for JSON and JSONC such that colon
is considered a word character when it's inside a string. This improves
the experience:
I believe this is more broadly correct anyway, since `:` loses it's
punctuation meaning when inside a string.
Hope this is helpful!
Release Notes:
- Improved autocomplete for keymap.json by treating `::` like word characters when inside a string.
Release Notes:
- Fixed issue where `true` and `false` were highlighted as constants,
ignoring the `boolean` highlight defined in themes.
- This fix applies to: C, C++, Go, JSON, JSONC, Python, and Rust.

Release Notes:
- vim: Added motions `[[`, `[]`, `]]`, `][` for navigating by section,
`[m`, `]m`, `[M`, `]M` for navigating by method, and `[*`, `]*`, `[/`,
`]/` for comments. These currently only work for languages built in to
Zed, as they are powered by new tree-sitter queries.
- vim: Added new text objects: `ic`, `ac` for inside/around classes,
`if`,`af` for functions/methods, and `g c` for comments. These currently
only work for languages built in to Zed, as they are powered by new
tree-sitter queries.

/cc @RemcoSmitsDev new task indicators weren't showing for me in JSON
files.
`tasks.json` of native grammars is not being read by anything by
default, so we tend to register tasks as Rust structs, foregoing the
deserialization step. This doesn't apply to tasks registered in
extensions, which have to have tasks.json.

Follow-up of
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/12095#issuecomment-2123230762
reverting back part of https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/11558
that was related to `language.toml` parsing.
Now all extensions that define `prettier_parser_name` in their language
configs, will enable formatting untitled buffers without any extra
language settings like
```json
{
"languages": {
"JSON": {
"prettier": {
"allowed": true,
"parser": "json"
}
}
}
}
```
Release Notes:
- Improved ergonomics of untitled buffer formatting with prettier, no
extra language settings are needed by default.
Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/11517
* Removes forced prettier parser name for languages, making `auto`
command to run prettier on every file by default.
* Moves prettier configs away from plugin language declarations into
language settings

I saved the `file_types.json` file and got a diff because it had some
trailing whitespace. I ran
[`lineman`](https://github.com/JosephTLyons/lineman) on the codebase.
I've done this before, but this time, I've added in the following
settings to our `.zed` local settings, to make sure every future save
respects our desire to have consistent whitespace formatting.
```json
"remove_trailing_whitespace_on_save": true,
"ensure_final_newline_on_save": true
```

This PR adds the ability for extensions to provide certain language
settings via the language `config.toml`.
These settings are then merged in with the rest of the settings when the
language is loaded from the extension.
The language settings that are available are:
- `tab_size`
- `hard_tabs`
- `soft_wrap`
Additionally, for bundled languages we moved these settings out of the
`settings/default.json` and into their respective `config.toml`s .
For languages currently provided by extensions, we are leaving the
values in the `settings/default.json` temporarily until all released
versions of Zed are able to load these settings from the extension.
---
Along the way we ended up refactoring the `Settings::load` method
slightly, introducing a new `SettingsSources` struct to better convey
where the settings are being loaded from.
This makes it easier to load settings from specific locations/sets of
locations in an explicit way.

- Moves languages module from `zed` into a separate crate. That way we
have less of a long pole at the end of compilation.
- Removes moot dependencies on editor/picker. This is totally harmless
and might help in the future if we decide to decouple picker from
editor.
Before:
```
Number of crates that depend on 'picker' but not on 'editor': 1
Total number of crates that depend on 'picker': 13
Total number of crates that depend on 'editor': 30
```
After:
```
Number of crates that depend on 'picker' but not on 'editor': 5
Total number of crates that depend on 'picker': 12
Total number of crates that depend on 'editor': 26
```
The more crates depend on just picker but not editor, the better in that
case.
