Marshall Bowers 937186da12 gpui: Don't export named Context from prelude (#21869)
This PR updates the `gpui::prelude` to not export the `Context` trait
named.

This prevents some naming clashes in downstream consumers.

a2115e7242 Restructure git diff state management to allow viewing buffers with different diff bases (#21258)
This is a pure refactor of our Git diff state management. Buffers are no
longer are associated with one single diff (the unstaged changes).
Instead, there is an explicit project API for retrieving a buffer's
unstaged changes, and the `Editor` view layer is responsible for
choosing what diff to associate with a buffer.

The reason for this change is that we'll soon want to add multiple "git
diff views" to Zed, one of which will show the *uncommitted* changes for
a buffer. But that view will need to co-exist with other views of the
same buffer, which may want to show the unstaged changes.

### Todo

* [x] Get git gutter and git hunks working with new structure
* [x] Update editor tests to use new APIs
* [x] Update buffer tests
* [x] Restructure remoting/collab protocol
* [x] Update assertions about staged text in
`random_project_collaboration_tests`
* [x] Move buffer tests for git diff management to a new spot, using the
new APIs

Max Brunsfeld c3075dfe9a Fix bugs in diff hunk highlighting (#18454)
Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/18405

In https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/18313, we introduced a
problem where git addition highlights might spuriously return when
undoing certain changes. It turned out, there were already some cases
where git hunk highlighting was incorrect when editing at the boundaries
of expanded diff hunks.

In this PR, I've introduced a test helper method for more rigorously
(and readably) testing the editor's git state. You can assert about the
entire state of an editor's diff decorations using a formatted diff:

```rust
    cx.assert_diff_hunks(
        r#"
        - use some::mod1;
          use some::mod2;
          const A: u32 = 42;
        - const B: u32 = 42;
          const C: u32 = 42;
          fn main() {
        -     println!("hello");
        +     //println!("hello");
              println!("world");
        +     //
        +     //
          }
          fn another() {
              println!("another");
        +     println!("another");
          }
        - fn another2() {
              println!("another2");
          }
        "#
        .unindent(),
    );
```

This will assert about the editor's actual row highlights, not just the
editor's internal hunk-tracking state.

I rewrote all of our editor diff tests to use these more high-level
assertions, and it caught the new bug, as well as some pre-existing bugs
in the highlighting of added content.

The problem was how we *remove* highlighted rows. Previously, it relied
on supplying exactly the same range as one that we had previously
highlighted. I've added a `remove_highlighted_rows(ranges)` APIs which
is much simpler - it clears out any row ranges that intersect the given
ranges (which is all that we need for the Git diff use case).

ᴀᴍᴛᴏᴀᴇʀ 95b06097ee Add support for auto surround (#13217)
![result](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/assets/32017007/c400081f-be5d-48fa-994f-90a00e2be359)

In the past, Zed used a single switch called `autoclose` to control both
`autoclose` and `auto_surround` functionalities:
+ `autoclose`: when input '(', append ')' automatically.
+ `auto_surround`: when select text and input '(', surround text with
'(' and ')' automatically.

This PR separates `auto_surround` from `autoclose` to support `<`.

Previously, if `autoclose` of `<` was set to `false`, `auto_surround`
couldn't be used. However, setting `autoclose` to `true` would affect
the default behavior of simple expression. For example, `a < b` would
become `a <> b`.

For more information, see #13187.

Fix #12898.

Nathan SoboandPiotr Osiewicz 7abb63cfda Improve the ergonomics of creating local buffers (#10347)
This PR renames `language::Buffer::new` to `language::Buffer::local` and
simplifies its interface. Instead of taking a replica id (which should
always be 0 for the local case) and a `BufferId`, which was awkward and
verbose to construct, it simply takes text and a `cx`.

It uses the `cx` to derive a `BufferId` from the `EntityId` associated
with the `cx`, which should always be positive based on the following
analysis...

We convert the entity id to a u64 using this method on `EntityId`, which
is defined by macros in the `slotmap` crate:

```rust
    pub fn as_ffi(self) -> u64 {
        (u64::from(self.version.get()) << 32) | u64::from(self.idx)
    }
```

If you look at the type of `version` in `KeyData`, it is non-zero:

```rust
#[derive(Clone, Copy, PartialEq, Eq, PartialOrd, Ord, Hash)]
pub struct KeyData {
    idx: u32,
    version: NonZeroU32,
}
```

This commit also adds `Context::reserve_model` and
`Context::insert_model` to determine a model's entity ID before it is
created, which we need in order to assign a `BufferId` in the background
when loading a buffer asynchronously.

3a0d3cee87 Compute scrollbar markers asynchronously (#10080)
Refs #9647
Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/9792

This pull request moves the computation of scrollbar markers off the
main thread, to prevent them from grinding the editor to a halt when we
have a lot of them (e.g., when there are lots of search results on a
large file). With these changes we also avoid generating multiple quads
for adjacent markers, thus fixing an issue where we stop drawing other
primitives because we've drawn too many quads in the scrollbar.

Release Notes:

diagnostics, or symbol highlights in the scrollbar

        "C++": ["c"],
        "TOML": ["MyLockFile"]
      }
    }

basis by including a local `.zed/settings.json` file in that directory.

268fa1cbaf Add initial support for defining language server adapters in WebAssembly-based extensions (#8645)
This PR adds **internal** ability to run arbitrary language servers via
WebAssembly extensions. The functionality isn't exposed yet - we're just
landing this in this early state because there have been a lot of
changes to the `LspAdapter` trait, and other language server logic.

## Next steps

* Currently, wasm extensions can only define how to *install* and run a
language server, they can't yet implement the other LSP adapter methods,
such as formatting completion labels and workspace symbols.
* We don't have an automatic way to install or develop these types of
extensions
* We don't have a way to package these types of extensions in our
extensions repo, to make them available via our extensions API.
* The Rust extension API crate, `zed-extension-api` has not yet been
published to crates.io, because we still consider the API a work in
progress.
