Michael Sloan 3ae6aa0e4d Start diagnostic group_id at 1 to handle non LS diagnostics (#22694)
In particular, `DiagnosticPopover` both:

* Supports moving the selection to a diagnostic when clicked, based on
`group_id`

* Provides Diagnostic values with `group_id: 0` providing informztion on
hover about invisible characters.

So, clicking such a popover would navigate to the very first error
produced by a language server. Really not a big deal of course, but
seems good to fix as it might result in surprising behavior in other
future circumstances

* [x] Refcount on register so we can unregister when no buffer remain
* [ ] (maybe) Stop language servers that are no longer needed after some

Release Notes:

- Fixed language servers starting when doing project search
- Fixed high CPU usage when ignoring warnings in the diagnostics view

Piotr Osiewicz f561a91daf lsp: Add support for didRename/willRename LSP messages (#21651)
Closes #21564

Notably, RA will now rename module references if you change the source
file name via our project panel.

This PR is a tad bigger than necessary as I torn out the Model<> from
didSave watchers (I tried to reuse that code for the same purpose).

a2115e7242 Restructure git diff state management to allow viewing buffers with different diff bases (#21258)
This is a pure refactor of our Git diff state management. Buffers are no
longer are associated with one single diff (the unstaged changes).
Instead, there is an explicit project API for retrieving a buffer's
unstaged changes, and the `Editor` view layer is responsible for
choosing what diff to associate with a buffer.

The reason for this change is that we'll soon want to add multiple "git
diff views" to Zed, one of which will show the *uncommitted* changes for
a buffer. But that view will need to co-exist with other views of the
same buffer, which may want to show the unstaged changes.

### Todo

* [x] Get git gutter and git hunks working with new structure
* [x] Update editor tests to use new APIs
* [x] Update buffer tests
* [x] Restructure remoting/collab protocol
* [x] Update assertions about staged text in
`random_project_collaboration_tests`
* [x] Move buffer tests for git diff management to a new spot, using the
new APIs

TechatrixandPiotr Osiewicz d5f2bca382 Filter LSP code actions based on the requested kinds (#20847)
I've observed that Zed's implementation of [Code Actions On
Format](https://zed.dev/docs/configuring-zed#code-actions-on-format)
uses the
[CodeActionContext.only](https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#codeActionContext)
parameter to request specific code action kinds from the server. The
issue is that it does not filter out code actions from the response,
believing that the server will do it.

The [LSP
specification](https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#codeActionContext)
says that the client is responsible for filtering out unwanted code
actions:

```js
/**
* Requested kind of actions to return.
*
* Actions not of this kind are filtered out by the client before being
* shown. So servers can omit computing them.
*/
only?: CodeActionKind[];
```

This PR will filter out unwanted code action on the client side.

I have initially encountered this issue because the [ZLS language
server](https://github.com/zigtools/zls) (until
https://github.com/zigtools/zls/pull/2087) does not filter code action
based on `CodeActionContext.only` so Zed runs all received code actions
even if they are explicitly disabled in the `code_actions_on_format`
setting.

Release Notes:

- Fix the `code_actions_on_format` setting when used with a language
server like ZLS

Michael SloanandMikayla Maki d99f5fe83e Add File.disk_state enum to clarify filesystem states (#20776)
Motivation for this is to make things more understandable while figuring
out #20775.

This is intended to be a refactoring that does not affect behavior, but
there are a few tricky spots:

* Previously `File.mtime()` (now `File.disk_state().mtime()`) would
return last known modification time for deleted files. Looking at uses,
I believe this will not affect anything. If there are behavior changes
here I believe they would be improvements.

* `BufferEvent::DirtyChanged` is now only emitted if dirtiness actually
changed, rather than if it may have changed. This should only be an
efficiency improvement.

Piotr Osiewicz f3320998a8 lsp: Track completion triggers for each language separately (#20471)
This PR improves how we handle completions in buffers with multiple
LSPs.

Context: while working on
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/19777 with @mgsloan we
noticed that completion triggers coming from language servers are not
tracked properly. Namely, each buffer has `completion_triggers` field
which is read from the configuration of a language server. The problem
is, there can be multiple language servers for a single buffer, in which
case we'd just stick to the one that was registered last.

This PR makes the tracking a bit more fine-grained. We now track not
only what the completion triggers are, but also their origin server id.
Whenever completion triggers are updated, we recreate the completion
triggers set.
Release Notes:

- Fixed completions not triggering when multiple language servers are
used for a single file.

Kirill BulatovandUlysse Buonomo d3cb08bf35 Support .editorconfig (#19455)
Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/8534
Supersedes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/16349

Potential concerns:
* we do not follow up to the `/` when looking for `.editorconfig`, only
up to the worktree root.
Seems fine for most of the cases, and the rest should be solved
generically later, as the same issue exists for settings.json
* `fn language` in `AllLanguageSettings` is very hot, called very
frequently during rendering. We accumulate and parse all `.editorconfig`
file contents beforehand, but have to go over globs and match these
against the path given + merge the properties still.
This does not seem to be very bad, but needs more testing and
potentially some extra caching.

Release Notes:

- Added .editorconfig support

Stanislav Alekseev eddf70b5c4 Revert "lsp: Do not notify all language servers on file save" (#19183)
Reverts zed-industries/zed#17756. According to the existing
implementations of the LSP specification, namely
[Helix](https://github.com/helix-editor/helix/blob/a7651f5bf027ec98645d571ab05a685d97e1b772/helix-view/src/document.rs#L1038)
and, if I'm not wrong,
[VSCode](https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-languageserver-node/blob/main/client/src/common/textSynchronization.ts#L580),
`textDocument/didSave` has nothing to do with the watched files and
should be sent to the language servers connected to the buffers even if
the files are not watched by those. As the LSP spec doesn't say anything
about `didSave` being related to the watched files, and the reference
implementation in VSCode seemingly does not filter the notifications
according to those, it seems like this is an incorrect interpretation of
the specification

This also causes issues with language servers. See [Metals
issue](https://github.com/scalameta/metals-zed/issues/28#issuecomment-2410393150)
for example

Max Brunsfeld 489077befc Extract a BufferStore object from Project (#14037)
This is a ~small~ pure refactor that's a step toward SSH remoting. I've
extracted the Project's buffer state management into a smaller, separate
struct called `BufferStore`, currently in the same crate. I did this as
a separate PR to reduce conflicts between main and `remoting-over-ssh`.

The idea is to make use of this struct (and other smaller structs that
make up `Project`) in a dedicated, simpler `HeadlessProject` type that
we will use in the SSH server to model the remote end of a project. With
this approach, as we develop the headless project, we can avoid adding
more conditional logic to `Project` itself (which is already very
complex), and actually make `Project` a bit smaller by extracting out
helper objects.

Previously we were using a single globset::Glob in PathMatcher; higher
up the stack, we were then resorting to using a list of PathMatchers.
globset crate exposes a GlobSet type that's better suited for this use
case. In my benchmarks, using a single PathMatcher with GlobSet instead
of a Vec of PathMatchers with Globs is about 3 times faster with the
default 'file_scan_exclusions' values. This slightly improves our
project load time for projects with large # of files, as showcased in
the following videos of loading a project with 100k source files. This
project is *not* a git repository, so it should measure raw overhead on
our side.

Max Brunsfeld 48581167b7 Remove dependencies from the Worktree crate and make it more focused (#12747)
The `worktree` crate mainly provides an in-memory model of a directory
and its git repositories. But because it was originally extracted from
the Project crate, it also contained lingering bits of code that were
outside of that area:
* it had a little bit of logic related to buffers (though most buffer
management lives in `project`)
* it had a *little* bit of logic for storing diagnostics (though the
vast majority of LSP and diagnostic logic lives in `project`)
* it had a little bit of logic for sending RPC message (though the
*receiving* logic for those RPC messages lived in `project`)

In this PR, I've moved those concerns entirely to the project crate
(where they were already dealt with for the most part), so that the
worktree crate can be more focused on its main job, and have fewer
dependencies.

Worktree no longer depends on `client` or `lsp`. It still depends on
`language`, but only because of `impl language::File for
worktree::File`.

Kirill Bulatov 47122a3115 Fix excluded file creation (#12620)
Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/10890

* removes `unwrap()` that caused panics for text elements with no text,
remaining after edit state is cleared but project entries are not
updated, having the fake, "new entry"
* improves discoverability of the FS errors during file/directory
creation: now those are shown as workspace notifications
* stops printing anyhow backtraces in workspace notifications, printing
the more readable chain of contexts instead
* better indicates when new entries are created as excluded ones

Release Notes:

- Improve excluded entry creation workflow in the project panel
