- Notable change is the use of a newtype for `ReplicaId`
- Fixes `WorktreeStore::create_remote_worktree` creating a remote
worktree with the local replica id, though this is not currently used
- Fixes observing the `Agent` (that is following the agent) causing
global clocks to allocate 65535 elements
- Shrinks the size of `Global` a bit. In a local or non-collab remote
session it won't ever allocate still.

03f9cf4414 Represent relative paths using a dedicated, separator-agnostic type (#38744)

### Background

On Windows, paths are normally separated by `\`, unlike mac and linux
where they are separated by `/`. When editing code in a project that
uses a different path style than your local system (e.g. remoting from
Windows to Linux, using WSL, and collaboration between windows and unix
users), the correct separator for a path may differ from the "native"
separator.

Previously, to work around this, Zed converted paths' separators in
numerous places. This was applied to both absolute and relative paths,
leading to incorrect conversions in some cases.

### Solution

Many code paths in Zed use paths that are *relative* to either a
worktree root or a git repository. This PR introduces a dedicated type
for these paths called `RelPath`, which stores the path in the same way
regardless of host platform, and offers `Path`-like manipulation APIs.
RelPath supports *displaying* the path using either separator, so that
we can display paths in a style that is determined at runtime based on
the current project.

The representation of absolute paths is left untouched, for now.
Absolute paths are different from relative paths because (except in
contexts where we know that the path refers to the local filesystem)
they should generally be treated as opaque strings. Currently we use a
mix of types for these paths (std::path::Path, String, SanitizedPath).

Lukas Wirth e1b57f00a0 sum_tree: Reduce Cursor size for contextless summary types (#38776)
This reduces the size of cursor by a usize when the summary does not
require a context making Cursor usages and constructions slightly more
efficient.

This change is a bit annoying though, as Rust has no means of
specializing, so this uses a `ContextlessSummary` trait with a blanket
impl while turning the `Context` into a GAT `Context<'a>`. This means
`Summary` implies are a bit more verbose now while contextless ones are
slimmer. It does come with the downside that the lifetime in the GAT is
always considered invariant, so some lifetime splitting occurred due to
that.

ea473eea87 acp: Fix agent servers sometimes not being registered when Zed starts (#38330)
In local projects, initialize the list of agents in the agent server
store immediately. Previously we were initializing the list only after a
delay, in an attempt to avoid sending the `ExternalAgentsUpdated`
message to the downstream client (if any) before its handlers were
initialized. But we already have a separate codepath for that situation,
in the `AgentServerStore::shared`, and we can insert the delay in that
place instead.

Release Notes:

- acp: Fixed a bug where starting an external agent thread soon after
Zed starts up would show a "not registered" error.

tidely 7bdc99abc1 Fix clippy::redundant_clone lint violations (#36558)
This removes around 900 unnecessary clones, ranging from cloning a few
ints all the way to large data structures and images.

A lot of these were fixed using `cargo clippy --fix --workspace
--all-targets`, however it often breaks other lints and needs to be run
again. This was then followed up with some manual fixing.

I understand this is a large diff, but all the changes are pretty
trivial. Rust is doing some heavy lifting here for us. Once I get it up
to speed with main, I'd appreciate this getting merged rather sooner
than later.

Piotr OsiewiczandAnthony Eid 631f9a1b31 worktree: Improve performance with large # of repositories (#35052)
In this PR we've reworked how git status updates are processed. Most
notable change is moving the processing into a background thread (and
splitting it across multiple background workers). We believe it is safe
to do so, as worktree events are not deterministic (fs updates are not
guaranteed to come in any order etc), so I've figured that git store
should not be overly order-reliant anyways.

Note that this PR does not solve perf issues wholesale - other parts of
the system are still slow to process stuff (which I plan to nuke soon).

Piotr Osiewicz 64d0fec699 sum_tree: Store context on cursor (#34904)
This gets rid of the need to pass context to all cursor functions. In
practice context is always immutable when interacting with cursors.

A nicety of this is in the follow-up PR we will be able to implement
Iterator for all Cursors/filter cursors (hell, we may be able to get rid
of filter cursor altogether, as it is just a custom `filter` impl on
iterator trait).

Max Brunsfeld 697c2ba71f Enable merge conflict parsing for currently-unmerged files (#31549)
Previously, we only enabled merge conflict parsing for files that were
unmerged at the last time a change was detected to the repo's merge
heads. Now we enable the parsing for these files *and* any files that
are currently unmerged.

The old strategy meant that conflicts produced via `git stash pop` would
not be parsed.

Bennet Bo Fenner 9cb5ffac25 context_store: Refactor state management (#29910)
Because we instantiated `ContextServerManager` both in `agent` and
`assistant-context-editor`, and these two entities track the running MCP
servers separately, we were effectively running every MCP server twice.

This PR moves the `ContextServerManager` into the project crate (now
called `ContextServerStore`). The store can be accessed via a project
instance. This ensures that we only instantiate one `ContextServerStore`
per project.

Also, this PR adds a bunch of tests to ensure that the
`ContextServerStore` behaves correctly (Previously there were none).

Cole Miller 7f5c874a38 git: Use the CLI for loading commit SHAs and details (#29351)
Since #28065 merged we've seen deadlocks inside iconv when opening Zed
in a repository containing many submodules. These calls to iconv happen
inside libgit2, in our implementations of the methods `head_sha`,
`merge_head_shas`, and `show` on `RealGitRepository`. This PR moves
those methods to use the git CLI instead, sidestepping the issue. For
the sake of efficiency, a new `revparse_batch` method is added that uses
`git cat-file` to resolve several ref names in one invocation. I
originally intended to make `show` operate in batch mode as well (or
instead), but I can't see a good way to do that with the git CLI; `git
show` always bails on the first ref that it can't resolve, and
`for-each-ref` doesn't support symbolic refs like `HEAD`.

Separately, I removed the calls to `show` in `MergeDetails::load`, going
back to only loading the SHAs of the various merge heads. Loading full
commit details was intended to support the inlays feature that ended up
being cut from #28065, and we can add it back in when we need it.

6924720b35 Move repository state RPC handlers to the GitStore (#27391)
This is another in the series of PRs to make the GitStore own all
repository state and enable better concurrency control for git
repository scans.

After this PR, the `RepositoryEntry`s stored in worktree snapshots are
used only as a staging ground for local GitStores to pull from after
git-related events; non-local worktrees don't store them at all,
although this is not reflected in the types. GitTraversal and other
places that need information about repositories get it from the
GitStore. The GitStore also takes over handling of the new
UpdateRepository and RemoveRepository messages. However, repositories
are still discovered and scanned on a per-worktree basis, and we're
still identifying them by the (worktree-specific) project entry ID of
their working directory.

Cole MillerandMax Brunsfeld cf7d639fbc Migrate most callers of git-related worktree APIs to use the GitStore (#27225)
This is a pure refactoring PR that goes through all the git-related APIs
exposed by the worktree crate and minimizes their use outside that
crate, migrating callers of those APIs to read from the GitStore
instead. This is to prepare for evacuating git repository state from
worktrees and making the GitStore the new source of truth.

Other drive-by changes:

- `project::git` is now `project::git_store`, for consistency with the
other project stores
- the project panel's test module has been split into its own file
